Excerpt from APICS Operations Management Now

The manufacturing community has long recognized the efficacy of lean. Lean incorporates a set of people-centric tools used to reduce waste and improve agility, competitiveness, and profit. In this complicated economic environment, lean naturally resonates. Our goal now is to combine sustainability and lean. The new metric of success will be what experts are calling the triple bottom line: people, planet, and profit.
